May Workshop...

Hi all - Yes it's me again!!!! Workshop time again so everyone knows that I will be on then eh! Have to put on our creations that we made at the monthly workshops, right???
Anyway for this month we were making a 'Suspension Card'. I made a couple of these last year just for fun (why else do we do this you may ask?) and I love them!!!
So that is what we made this time......
You can find a great tutorial for Suspension Cards here on the greatest site EVER! Split Coast Stampers of course... Where I get majority of my inspiration from.
Then for our second card one of the girls wanted to try a card using vellum. So I cased this from a card that was sent to me ages ago by the lovely Kim (check out her blog here) who I finally got the pleasure of meeting at Convention. It is almost exactly the same as the one she sent me only colours and stamp sets are changed. It was such a simple, easy card to make, but so very effective don't you think....

And to finish off we made this cute little teabag holder. I have had a paper template for something similar to this for years but do you think I could find it to make this. So I have just just made the base how I think it should have gone and then decorated it how I liked. I had a very quiet weekend this time with nearly everyone busy with something or other so I had quite a few away. But we had a great time the couple that could make it and then a couple of them stayed for the arvo since I had no-one else coming... Sooo....... I got out all my scraps and dumped them in the middle of the table (literally!) and we did Punch Art. I had gotten some pictures off Split Coast and we made owls, cows, sheep, reindeer and a hand bag. We had a ball!!!

An extra?...

Hi all - just a quickie - I made this card at the same time as I made the cards for my workshop - I was trying different colour combos.  So it is almost identical but with the base colours swapped around. My DH liked this one but I prefered the Kiwi Kiss one better (see workshop cards in previous post). Then my sister-in-law stopped in to drop something off and she liked the Kiwi Kiss one better also so DH was out-voted LOL and that became the workshop one... and this one? ... 

April 2009 Worskhop...

Hi all - hope everything is going well for you all - Hope you all had a wonderful Easter even though it is now two weeks past!!! Time flies faster as one gets older LOL (or busier!)

For our workshop creations this month, I firstly wanted to Mother's Day cards plus I wanted to use some of the lovely new Designer Series papers available in the new catalogue. And boy have we been spoilt this time. They are all so beautiful! It was so hard to choose!!! I have chosen the Raspberry Tart papers 'cause for one it is very 'pretty' colours and also I felt that the  new 'Three Little Words' stamp set went really well with it.

All three have been made based around the Raspberry Tart DS papers.

For our first card we have made a pocket card (instructions here) which the girls found to their delight, very easy to make. We have also used the 'Mother's Day' stamp out of the 'Occasional Greetings' set. 

For next card we have made a simple layout using layers and for a bit of added interest we have clear embossed the flower and sentiment and also used the rock 'n' roll technique. This card and the next item both also use, for a little extra *bling*, the new clear Rhinestone brads which I really LOVE and find so much more versatile.

And for our novelty item, I have cased this Post-It note holder idea from Jean who sent me one in the post a little while back as a gift. Such a simple but very clever idea and my girls loved it. Thank you Jean for the inspiration. :) It has a hair-band that holds it closed which you really can't see in these pictures. 

A 'Magic' Card....

This is the card I made for my younger sister's birthday earlier this month. She likes really cute things and cards that do 'something'. I tried this type of card once before and I just didn't like it at all - I don't like how it is so plain when one first sees it. But when I made this one (other than the colour choice LOL) I don't mind it at all. Maybe I needed to persevere with the original one as I stop half way through it thinking it was too plain looking. But aren't they amazing how they 'magically' colour. Instructions can be found on SCS here

Another challenge...

Here is the card I made for the ABC challenge. Each week they set a challenge denoted by the letters of the alphabet. This week they were up to 'I' and the challenge was to decorate the 'inside' of the card.

I like the inside better than the outside LOL - it would make a lovely card front!

Two Challenges....

Hi all - remember me LOL - Easter holidays, house partly cleaner...  so time to stamp!!! Yah!! I have combined tqo challenges to make this card. 'KWerner's colour challenge No. 49' and 'the Sisterhood of Scrap's sketch challenge'.

I did start out by intending to make two cards and started off doing the KWerner colour challenge but that card is heading for the bin LOL. So then I started the Sisterhood challenge and decided to try again with the colours and I am SOOOO happy with this card. :-)) (Pat myself on the back LOL)

Edited: Missed Kwerner's challenge by approx 5 minutes :-((

Edited: The ribbon on the front was done by attaching a piece of ribbon to the card then punching three holes on either side and threading another piece of ribbon like shoelaces, attaching ends at the back. Hope that helps - if not please feel free to email me and I will give more details.

My 'Baby's' Birthday...

Hi - all... here is the card I made for my 'baby' who turned 9!!! on the weekend. I can't believe it!!! Another year and both my children will be in double figure numbers! WOW! As long as we all keep aging then life is good isn't it......

It started out as the KWerner challenge for the week, which was using only the colours Black, Grey and White, which at the time I thought would be a great combo for him as his favourite colour is black. But when I tried to make it in those colours alone it just didn't look right for a young boy, so I gave up on the challenge and put some Red with it. I don't mind it, but as usual since it is for a loved one, it didn't turn out as special as I would have liked it to be. He liked it though so I suppose that is a good thing...... And yet another step card...... No not fed up with them yet LOL
