KWerner Challenge #28

OMG What is the world coming to!!!! Two posts in one day!!!

After I posted the other one, I started blog surfing and saw that Kristina had put her new challenge up and since I had nothing better to do (ha ha - procrastination in all it's glory!) I thought I could do that - An idea just "POPPED" into my head and I went for it. Now that I see it finished I think I should have waited for another idea to pop LOL - no it's not that bad... is it? Again, it's just not my colours.

Sometimes I wonder if I should not post things that I'm not happy with.... but then there would be a lot less on my blog then there is now LOL - Sometimes I think I may be a little hard on myself....

Colours used: Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, Sage Shadow and Whisper White.

Mel's Weekly Challenge

Hi all - here is my 'creation for Mel's weekly challenge. It was a colour challenge based on a scenic picture this week, using Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, Gable Green and Whisper White.
I'm actually quite pleased with it - It has managed to turn out quite close to what I had in mind - OMG There is hope for us all!!!! LOL

KWerner Challenge #27

Here's my attempt at Kristina's challenge. Not really sure what I had in mind (actually nothing!!!) Had to use any red for a main colour and any other colours we chose - The Ruby Red was sitting out on top of the box, so I thought that was a good start and picked the other colours using the Stampin' Up colour wheel (such a handy little tool)... And I have stamped the ribbon... had never tried that before, but didn't know where else to put the sentiment. LOL

Supplies used: All Stampin' Up supplies - 'One of a Kind' stamp set, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral and Chocolate Chip card stock, Ruby Red and Whisper White inks, Chocolate Chip ribbon, Brads, Dimensionals, Piercing tool and Mat Pack, Fiskars Texture Plates

Anything But....

Hi all - This is an idea that I have wanted to try for a long time and when Kristy put a challenge on her blog for 'Anything but a card', I thought this would be the perfect opportunity...

But... me being me, downloaded the template for a later date but didn't bother to have a look at how they were made or anything along those lines of common sense!!! LOL. When I was trying to make it, I also couldn't find another one on the web or where I had originally got this from in the first place!!! So had to blunder on alone with no idea what I was doing... so you guessed it... I did EVERYTHING around the wrong way!

But as with all things lost... they always, always turn up just when you have finished!
I didn't like to post this without giving credit, so went looking again and have found that I got this template from 'paperfrenzy' at SCS. (Beats me why I was unable to find it when I was first looking) After seeing this, ya gotta admit it... It's CUUUTE isn't it! But.... after making one, who in their right mind would!!!! No only kidding, it really wasn't that bad... not quite anyway LOL

Ps: While trying to find where I got it from I came across an absolutly gorgeous one HERE and she makes a very important point which I thought of also, that I will certainly do if I ever make another one... Punch holes and tie back straps BEFORE assembling LOL - Oh well, some things ya just gotta learn!!!

Pss: While punching holes in a tiny half complete box with a Crop-a-dile, MAKE SURE other side is out of the way!!!! Again these common sense things that get me every time! ROFLOL

Mel's Weekly Challenge

Here is my card for Melissa's weekly challenge - This week it was to incorporate a wheel into the design. As you can see I have stayed with a simple, yet timeless card layout design. It's not very exciting but I really like it. A great card to make heaps of for Christmas!! LOL. I have seen the brads on the Christmas tree idea quite a bit and just love the simplicity of the idea and how much it jumps out! (Ps: the sentiment does not look smudged in real life.... don't know what happened there... photography *groan* LOL)

Supplies used: Real Red, Wild Wasabi and Very Vanilla cardstock, Season of Joy and Many Merry Messages stamp sets, Leaves a La Carte Jumbo wheel, Wild Wasabi ink, Brads, Real Red ribbon, Dimensionals.

October Workshop

Hi all - well it was that time again! Workshop wonderland and the theme was Christmas! But we didn't get into the Christmas spirit though - thought of that too late LOL - So I have told the girls that next month' workshop is..... PARTY TIME!!! (We will be doing a Christmas Stamp-a-Stack and I have told them that we are dressing up for Christmas - that was met with a few cheers and a few more groans LOL)

Anyway back to this month's workshop - we have made a Free Standing Pop-UP card (tutorial... you guessed it, at
SCS) I have wanted to make a Christmas one of these ever since I saw one late last year, so I finally got to do it YAH! (I think the girls thought so too, YAH that is LOL)
I received one of this type of card recently in a swap, so thank you Jane, as it saved me a lot of time having it to measure off. You can't see them very well, but it has brads on the tree. Some of the girls also put glitter dots as well.

Supplies: Very Vanilla, Ruby Red, Handsome Hunter and Night of Navy cardstock, Season of Joy stamp set and So Swirly jumbo wheel, VersaMark and Handsome Hunter inks, Brads, Night of Navy 1/4 ribbon, Jumbo brad.

We also made this great card that has a slide out insert. (I can say great card 'cause I completely cased it from a swap card by Jean LOL - the only difference is the colours used). Thank you Jean. Isn't this the whole idea of swaps, to get great ideas to use.

Supplies: Wild Wasabi and Bashful Blue cardstock, DS paper from Winter Bright Simply Scrapping pack, Wild Wasabi ink, 2-way glue and Dazzling Diamond glitter, Silver brad, Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon, Horizontal Slot punch.

And then for our novelty item... had the girls working hard today!!! LOL and we still had time for lots and lots of laughter!!! Did I tell you all what a great bunch of girls I've got.......

We have made this cute table decoration. I made one at Karen's last year some time with a flower attached to the lolly stick (that's right... it has a lolly pop inside it) and they have been popping up on a few different blogs again lately. I decided to make mine Christmassy in keeping with the theme of the cards. We have also put little glitter dots over the tree and on the snowflake. Too cute if I do say so myself! Mind you, my tree looks a little small for the 'pot' LOL - but still cute....

Supplies: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Handsome Hunter cardstock, Season of Joy stamp set, Silver brads, 1 3/8 & 1 1/4 Circle punches, 2-way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamond glitter.
That's all folks, till next time....

And if you would like to purchase the pre-cut kit with *everything you need (did I mention all pre-cut) to make all three of these great Christmas creations, then email me for details and one can be on the way to you! :-))

Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Just Playing....

This is the other card that my sister and I each made one of, when she popped over on Saturday to see if I wanted to do a bit of card making. (We also made the SCS Accordion card and SCS Split Negative card as seen in last two previous posts) Again it is from a SCS tutorial - Swing (Flip Flop) Card. Ya gotta love that site!!!! The ideas and inspiration there are unbelievable!!!! And you all may have guessed by now that I absolutely ADORE that site. When we are just having a fun day, I love to try their tutorials just to try something new and different, or unusual. I think it gives the cards that extra WOW. It's like, "oh that's a nice card", then they go to open it and WOW!! Ya know what I mean.... We have used the same colour theme as the previous posting as again, the colours are sooo pretty together. We did add some Barely Banana to this as well. Isn't it clever how the centre piece 'swings' - such a simple idea, but soooo effective. Mind you, I seemed to have an awful lot of trouble converting it to our size cards. Wasted a lot of scrap paper. Kept having 'blonde' moments where my mind would go completely blank! People who know me would understand! LOL
Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Barely Banana
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Always Artichoke, VersaMark
Stamps: Friendship Blooms, It's Your Birthday, So Swirly Jumbo Wheel
Extras: Apricot Appeal Grosgrain Ribbon, Piercer and Mat

Another 40th....

Hi again - Here is the other 40th birthday card I needed to make. And I didn't use the belated stamp!!! LOL - Had to have it done on time as we were going to the party!!The inside section was done using the idea from the Pop-Up Accordian tutorial on SCS. I have made this card using the same colours as in the tutorial as that card was sooo pretty.
I really like how it turned out! I love these colours together.

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Rose Red and Whisper White
Stamp sets: Big Deal Alphabet, Cause for Celebration (Hostess), Occasionally, So Many Sayings (Hostess)
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, VersaMark

Mel's Weekly Challenge

Here's my card for Mel's Weekly Challenge - this week it was a colour challenge using Handsome Hunter, Yoyo Yellow, Basic Black, Whisper White and Real Red. I have wanted to try the Split Negative idea from SCS for a while now and thought this colour scheme was a good one to try it with. My sister, who was over 'playing', said they were Christmas colours, hence the Christmas sentiment. (In hindsight, I could have used a Chrissy tree then!!! LOL - Hindsight is such a wonderful thing!)
Have I broken the rules by using gold embossing????

Stamps used: Looks Like Spring and Occasional Greetings.
Extras: Clear and Gold Embossing Powder, Black Brads, Dimensionals, Crimper, Paper Piercer and Mat.

Challenging!!! For Me, Yes!!

Hi all - Here is my entry for Melissa's Challenge, which finishes tonight. I didn't think I was gonna make it 'cause for one, the challenge was just WAY to out there for me!! LOL and the other reason, I have been busy making a couple of shirts for my son which needed to be done by today. But all is done!! Very proud of myself at the moment YILM!!! :-))

Anyway you are probably wondering what the challenge was if you don't already know (and haven't already gone for a peek) - It was to make a card with NO layering! What the?... How is that possible I asked!! And Mel replied with, using the base card with embelishments but no more cardstock. I think I have smudged the 'rules' line here a bit LOL, but after wracking my brains for a week, I thought 'embelishment' - I will go with one LARGE one LOL!!!! But then it's made out of CS???? Ok so maybe I cheated a teeny weeny bit LOL.....

And much to my surprise, I actually quite like it. Well whadda ya know!!!!

Sunday Funday...

Hi all - My sister popped over this morning to make some cards (she rang at 7.30am Sunday ?? What the?.... to see if I wanted to)

I still hadn't gotten round to making that birthday card that I had wanted to make. So in between helping her make a couple of cards, I made this card. I started out by using a colour challenge from
Makeesha, that I missed (by about a week!!!! LOL) The colours were supposed to be Elegant Eggplant, Soft Sky, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. Since I missed it, I thought I could change the colours LOL, so I have left out the Soft Sky. I was going to add a touch of green but decides the leaves were enough. I have also glittered the flowers. I just LOOOVE that look - Soooo pretty!!!I also love the spiral pop-out from SCS (link in earlier post) so have done that again for an added surprise for her. AND don't forget that 'Belated" stamp LOL....
My sister had made one of the spiral pop-outs also, but since it was the same as the the one I had made in an earlier post, I didn't worry about posting that one (sorry sis).

But she has also been wanting to try the pop-out lettering from Extreme Papercraft, so I showed her how. The rest of the card is pretty much her own doing. She did get some inspiration from
Kylie's card for the front.
I'm certainly impressed with how it turned out, especially the inside - I think it looks amazing.
Bye for now.....

Ps: I have another 40th card to make before the weekend - I wonder if I'll be using that 'Belated' stamp again.... ROFLOL!!!

KWerner Challenge #24

Hi all - I finally got round to getting a challenge done before times up. Yah for me!!! But I've decided that Autumn colours are NOT for me! I didn't mind this until I saw the photo and then almost didn't enter it. But then thought, what the heck - I've gone to the trouble....
So here it is, my entry for Kristinas challenge #24.

A Belated Challenge...

Hi all -These two cards were made using a challenge idea by Makeesha - the challenge was to use a card she had chosen in the SU catalogue for ones sketch layout and make up three different cards using the 'sketch idea' - Well I got the first two done, but didn't quite get round to the third one - had planned to, just didn't happen!!! LOL

This was my first card. Was wanting a birthday card for a fellow team member's birthday, but didn't like this as much as I would like. Soooo back to the drawing board.....
So then I made this one, which I LOVED!
But I also used the SCS Spiral pop-up tutorial for this one, to give it a little extra....

I was very pleased with this one, but as you can see from the front sentiment, I procrastinate too much and put too much worrying into cards for specific reasons. Sooo it was gonna be late!!

Which comes to the reason that I haven't got a third one done LOL. I needed another birthday card which I was gonna use for the third card for the challenge, but..... The challenge is finished and the winner announced!! LOL And I still haven't made the b'day card, AND the b/day in question is TOMORROW!!! LOL. That 'Belated' stamp certainly gets a workout from me!
